Choose it Narrative.

Greenpeace Takes on Taiwan's Biggest Environmental Problems | ICRT Blog

November 5, 2020 earth was becoming a not much safer place than before, water pollution was becoming worse and most people were starting not to care about it. Over 15 or 10 years people were starting to find collections of all sorts of plastics and rubbish, but over those past years the numbers of rubbish has been building up and becoming even worse. People started finding a lot of rubbish in the 2000s, beaches started filling up with all sorts of rubbish which some came from the sea or most of them were from humans, oceans and seas are filled with rubbish mainly plastic. The bad thing about plastic is that plastic takes up to 1,000 years to break down but plastic doesn’t really fully break down and disappear.

The plastic bags that we use daily take up to 10 years to 1,000 to decompose, while plastic bottles take 450 years or more to decompose meaning that the plastic will start to rot. Plastic was the most often thing people found on beaches, oceans and just anywhere around earth. Rubbish and plastic has been spotted around the world

My Personal Experience

Last week on the 5th of August the year 8s went to their Leadership Camp while the year 7s had their Step up Program, the year 8s that didn’t go to camp and stayed back at school had to help with the teachers and help the year 7s with the activities they were doing.

Staying back with the year 7s was alright, the year 7s weren’t that annoying and they didn’t really need any help with anything only some of them needed help of being reminded of some things, but they took control of themselves pretty well and didn’t need anymore reminders. The activities we were doing were okay but in my opinion last year's games were better and more fun. It would’ve been fun if we got to cook something like how cooked Truffles last year. The activities that we did this year were Cup Stacking, Mysteries, Quote Art and this Singing Game they were all fun, but if we only got to do cooking that’ll be even better but you get what you get.

Ideas about Year 7/8 Programs

Task Description: For this task we had to do a table and write down what things we want to Keep, Add and Stop.  For each year we had to decide what things we want to keep as the actives, what we wanted to add and what we wanted to stop, so here is what we wanted to Keep, Add and Stop.   The group we had to work in is Me, Maddy and Mahoe.

Reflections from Year 7&8 Leaders.

6 year 7 Captain highlights.

  • Sauma - Samua’s highlight was seeing other students stepping up and becoming leaders and changing their attitude and ways of answering teachers, moving around the school and helping our younger students around the school.

  • Nina - Nina’s highlight was the food.

  • Bradley - Bradley’s highlight was being a substitute prefect.

  • Oalii - Oalii’s highlight was to work together as a group

  • Mohammed - Mohammed’s highlight was to step up to being a leader.

6 year 8 Captain highlights.

  • Jezakaia - Jezakaia’s highlight was him and the boys sleeping together because they were scared that something was standing outside the window.

  • Mamarei - Mamarei’s highlight was seeing her team supporting each other.

  • Sione - Sione’s highlight was when all the boys came inside his dorm and started singing some waiatas.

  • Zamera - Zamera’s highlight was being able to learn how to control a go kart and she was trying to beat the time record which was 38 secs.

  • Arthur - Arthur’s highlight was the boys and girls hitting each other with the noodle things inside the gym.

  • Caleb - Caleb’s highlight was doing paintball and arteries.
Task Description: Today our year 7&8s got the chance to tell us one of their highlights what they've learnt.  For this task we had to write down each other captain their highlights and what they've learnt during those 3 days of Camp and 3 days of their Step up Program.

Narrative - Don't Let Go

resource image
WALT: write a narrative using dialogue.

It was a long night and I was sooo tired I just wanted to sleep. I wanted to go home but my mum was talking to one of her close friends so we had to stand there being tired and watch them talk, they were talking for hours. Me and my brother were so tired, so we started annoying our mum to take us home….. They were still talking until finally our mum starts calling us, “C’mon kids we’re going now”

We were so happy that we ran to the car waiting for our mum to unlock the doors, “Unlock the doors mum!” yelled Jake.

“Hey come and say goodbye before we leave, right now!” yelled mum

So they went and said goodbye and finally headed home, it took awhile for them to get home. The ride back home was 4 minutes but they still made it home. When they finally got home Jasmine and Jake both ran upstairs into they’re rooms, jumped on the bed and fell asleep well Jasmine fell asleep Jake hopped on his PS4 and started playing his game, mum was still downstairs watching her favourite TV show F.R.I.E.N.D.S. While Jasmine was sleeping she had this magical dream. The dream was so magical, it was of a little girl named Bella going to prom in a nice, beautiful, white dress, she was wearing shiny, sparkling heels that were matching her dress. She was so beautiful but there was one tiny little problem, she didn’t have a date to take to the prom. She had to go alone. She didn’t want to go to the prom alone. She wanted to stay home with her pet birds and rabbit but her grandmother was begging her to go in this beautiful dress. So she went even though she didn't want to but she still went for her grandmother.

“Wow, this is huge” claimed Bella. She came to the prom in a big, white, beautiful carriage, she was kinda excited but she wasn’t at the same time because she didn’t want to go in without a date, but she didn’t care she just went inside and ignored everyone that was looking at her, “Wow!! This is like a dream come true” Bella said with excitement.

“Ewww! Look at her” people were saying.

“She didn’t even come with a date” people were laughing at her

Every girl was saying stuff about her and she wasn’t feeling good, she wanted to leave straight away. While people were talking about her she went for a drink she went to the table with all the drinks and snacks, she grabbed her drink and walked off but as soon as she turned around she bumped into someone a boy she spilt her drink all over him and herself, she didn’t know he was, she didn’t get to face the face until the boy said, “Woah!! Sorry I should have watched where I was going.” the boy said.

“Oh sorry, I didn’t see you there.” Bella said.

“Looks like we both couldn’t see each other, it's alright I wasn’t watching where I was going.”

“Okay….. Oh sorry my name Bella, What's your name?”

“Hi Bella, I’m Tony.” “Nice to bump into you.” Tony claimed.

“Yup, ahahaha.” Bella laughed

After the little accident Bella and Tony were talking for a while they were having a good conversation, after a few chats a special song came on a nice, claiming, peaceful song that brings the two couples together and dance as a beautiful couple. When the song went on Tony and Bella immediately looked at each other and locked eyes. They were staring at each other for a pretty long time.

“Wanna dance?” Tony asked

“Uh, yea sure.” Bella answered

Tony grabbed Bella’s hand, went to the dance floor and danced, they were both so good at dancing and they both knew how to dance, they were both so good for each other. Bella was so in love with him she wanted to tell him that she was in love with him but she was so scared that he was gonna reject her, Bella and Tony kept on dancing, they were locking hands and Bella rested her head on Tony’s chest. The song was playing for a few hours and they were dancing through the whole song…………… To be continued.

S.E.E Writing

Element 1 - Picking up Rubbish:

“Be part of the solution, not the pollution.”

By being part of the solution is to not litter around the places we go to. Littering isn’t good for our home we call “Earth” because it will end up bad and polluted with all our trash lying around and obviously some people who sees it ain't gonna pick it up because it looks unpleasant and its not theres so they say “it's not there problem”.For example, one day I went to the beach with some of my family and next to us was a big family having fish and chips, but after they finished eating the family left they’re rubbish flying everywhere polluting our earth! I had to pick up all they’re rubbish and throw it in the bin. A While after I was picking up they’re rubbish I say “It ain’t even hard to pick up your own rubbish and throw it in the bin”

Element 2 - Chuck it in right bin

“Sometimes you just have to chuck it in the right bin”

Be a tidy kiwi by picking up rubbish and throwing it in the right bin, don’t be a dirty kiwi and walk past the rubbish and the bin just pick up the rubbish and throw it in the bin.

For example, one time me and my family went out for a walk down to the beach because we didn’t live far from it so we went for a walk down the beach, while we were walking I see lots of rubbish on the ground right next to the bin.I’m just looking to see if anyone will pick it up, but while we were walking I see a person running and I thought they will pick it up. But they didn't, they just ran right past it like they didn’t see it, so me and my little sisters went across the road and picked up all the rubbish and threw it in the bin.

Element 3 - Don’t just do it at school (Homes & Streets etc.)

“The best way to not feel hopeless is to get up and do something. Don’t wait for good things to happen to you. If you go out and make some good things happen, you will fill the world with hope, you will fill yourself with hope.” ― Barack Obama. Being a Role Model is to always be the person and the things you should always be the same and never change when you are at school or home or wherever you are! For example when you put your rubbish in the bin at school you also don’t need to do it just at school but as well as at home and on your street your house it will make your street and area you call home beautiful!!

Element 4 - Teach Others (Family & Neighbours etc.)

“There is no exercise better for the heart than reaching down and lifting people up.”

― John Holmes.Teaching others around you will really help out your community and the area around you to help keep it tidy and clean for when vistors or local people come it will be a Tidy place for everyone to go to. For example, while I was walking back home from school I see across the road a family walking back home, while they were walking there was rubbish on the ground the mother and the kids walked past it, but only one person picked up the rubbish and it was the youngest child there she picked up the rubbish. But the mother told her to “Leave the rubbish” but she didn’t listen instead she told her why she was picking up the rubbish.

Task Description : This week Room 1 Literacy is writing and learning again about how to write an Explanation Piece of Writing upon which it includes S.E.E. Which means S is the meaning of our Statement which is Blue. E is the meaning for our explanation which is in Green. E is Meaning for our Example which is meaning and coloured in Bright Pink! This was meant for our whole week for our writing task but then we had extra time so we decied to finsih the whole thing!
